Should art techniques be free?

How do I get that murrini on there? Those radial yellow, orange, and red "star burst" style millefiori chips? The basic tutorial will be published for FREE in the next few days!
In 1992 I was studying perspective drawing. I was absolutely fascinated when I discovered what a "vanishing shadow vanishing point" was. I discovered that everything we see can be defined scientifically. We can mathematically create any image found in this world. Everything does make sense!

In between discoveries I often times hung out in coffee shops around Michigan. I would be studying art, and stumbling upon interesting conversations with other people pretty much doing the same thing as me.

One of my conversations (with a very cute boy) was how to draw a landscape using perspective drawing. I basically explained everything I had learned in a 3 month course. He was fascinated by the perspective.

He then turned to me and said (something like), "Wow! That's a lot of information to just give away."

I was a little bit stumped, to say the least. (I was just having a great conversation!) And then, it hit me. If I am going to spend $50,000.00 (plus) for an Art education. I should really think of ways to make money to survive. (I believe that was the whole point of college in the long run.)

That was always the hard part for me. Selling the creations that meant so much to me. And! I am obsessed enough with the concepts of Art that I find myself choosing that subject when I am in a bar or on a date. I really wanted art to just be the way I Live.

What that cute boy suggested, kind of confused me. I do see the point. I also see that not many people are actually going to set out to do the same thing you do. And, even if they do, they are not you. They will do it their own way. Some people just want to know how things are done. They do not necessarily ever even try doing it. We need to stick with the time, the place, the celebration of passion movement going on around the world! (Everybody is doing it, and I think it is great! The sources have been reveled; thanks to the world wide Internet!)

Today, I am still giving away super cool artistic techniques, and beliefs. People from all over the world e-mail me for instruction. And, I am a pretty spontaneous responder.
In the last two years I have had extra time to answer each individual query. Today, I must take on another job (auto cad drawings) to pay for all of my overhead (house, kids, cars, utilities, taxes). Although I will still respond to individual emails, I will be directing them here, where most of my techniques are documented. (rather than repeat myself over and over.)
I am planning to publish basic techniques to help people get started with various projects. For more complicated detailed instruction, I will be writing instruction in pdf format. These will be available on the Internet for sale.
I will have the best of both worlds. I will educate the curious mind enough for them to learn something. (keeping the celebration of passion alive.) And, I will take the time to carefully define things for the artist's out there, giving them direction so that they can know how, and practice what they know.
For the sake of art, this blog is here!
